As a true Artist, I have very little respect, if any at all, for AI “art”, digital “art”, hamparte aka conceptual (f)art, and CEOs of art factory billed as artist.

Nonetheless, I deeply admire the business acumen and marketing wizardry of these two CEOs.

You can’t argue with $ucce$$.

As an Artist/Founder/Investor, I need some inspiration, some kind of role models.

For Entrepreneurship, I have Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerberg.
For Investing, I have Warren Buffett and Peter Lynch.
For Art, I have….

Drum roll….

Jeff Koons and Damian Hirst.

A big contradiction here.
Everything they (don’t) do isn’t art. BUT, they are extremely successful and they are the richest “artist” (Art CEOs) of all time.
Since the scoreboard for everything is in dollars, Euros, etc.
I can’t ignore those two behemoths.

So, I’m inspired by them, not as “artists”, but as centimillionaire art CEOs.

Now, let’s compare my productivity as a solo-Artist who create his own ArtWorks against these art manufacturers.

Employees: 0 as it should be. Unless you count your housekeeper as employee?!

Net Worth: None of your fuckin’ business!
Total products in catalogue: Damn, my Satans Schlongs’s Catalogue Raisonné is more about scarcity than quantity.

The last thing I would want is to deal with more than 120 employees. In a perfect world, I wouldn’t deal with any at all!

Let’s compare my productivity next to these art behemoths.

If you consider all the T-shirt designs and blog posts I’ve ever made as Art (which they aren’t). As a solopreneur, I spank both of their asses really easily with more than:

  • 9,357 products/items uploaded just here on PYGear.com. I can’t wait to get to 10,000.
  • 4,814 published blog posts and 76 pages published just here on PYGear.com

I said just here on PYGear.com, since I have published thousands of blog posts on my other (more or less inactive) websites.
And I have uploaded way more than 10,000 designs on other marketplaces like amazon, redbubble, teepublic, etc.
But none of this is what I call real Art.

I’ve been drawing on and off all my life. But the only work I would qualify as Art is what I’ve done with Satans Schlongs.
That’s my real Art! What’s coming from my guts and my soul.

I’ve started my Satans Schlongs Art Project in November 9, 2020. On which I’ve been off for two years.
And I only create an ArtWork when I have a theme and when my guts and my soul push me to do it.
I don’t draw just for drawing. I need a theme and a passion that force me to do it.
From a business standpoint, as far as my Art is concerned, scarcity is good.

Bon, let’s crunch the numbers to compare my productivity next to the factory’s output of these all time great art CEOs.

I will divide their number of products by their number of employees to get a more accurate number of what my productivity should be.

First, Jeff Koons:
1,400/120 = About 12 products per employees

Now, Damian Hirst:
6,000/150 = 40 products per employees
2,000/150 = 13 drawings per employees

Sure, they are doing gigantic and elaborate pieces. Normal, for the price they sold it.

Both are way older than me (Koons is 70 and Hirst is 59) and have been at it for way longer than me.

But, I found it interesting to see those number as a kind of benchmark for me.
