CASH FROM CHAOS shirt as worn by Malcolm McLaren
Seditionaries was created by Vivienne Westwood, opened in 1976 and was owned by Malcolm McLaren. Okay.
Vivienne Westwood was partner and co-owner of the famous London boutique Let It Rock with Malcolm McLaren. After the store had gone through various name changes and periods of closing, it returned in 1976 as Seditionaries.
At the time, McLaren managed a band that would later become the infamous Sex Pistols. Sid Vicious did work at Seditionaries. Since the band was always dressed in Seditionaries goods, the popularity of the clothing rose congruently with the popularity of the band.
In 1980, McLaren and Westwood’s relationship deteriorated and Seditionaries closed for good.
Sex Pistols was formed in 1975 and disbanded in 1978.
Sid Vicious died of an heroin overdose in 1979 at age 21. He remained a punk rock icon ever since.
Sad, imagine how far Seditionaries could have gone if it wasn’t closed for good.
And how great the Sex Pistols could have been if they haven’t disbanded.
As for Sid Vicious is concerned. It was hopeless! He was destined to live fast and die young.
It seem that everything that Malcolm McLaren touched was destined to self-destruct after achieving success.
Self-sabotage isn’t it?!
Better a spectacular failure than a benign success.
